Summer Haiku
This week, we began to dream of summer after the few warm days Chicago gave us last week. Together we played a fun hand game to practice identifying syllables and rhythm within words. Then, we read “Haiku Series” by E. Ethelbert Miller and discussed how the poet honored different Black Civil Rights Activists in each haiku. Students then began to dream of summer and what comes to mind when they look forward to the season. Here are a few of them below!
