Hero’s Welcome: Hero Poems of All Kinds

What makes a hero (both real or imagined), and how can we learn from them (even the villains) and the inner- hero inside of us? We explored those concepts and more in the poem, What I Learned from the Incredible Hulk by Amiee Nezhukumatahil.

Lesson Note: Have you heard? Recently a Harvard social scientist found that posing like a superhero increases confidence and creates lasting positive change! Superman actor Christopher Reeve noted, ‘I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” And singer Bob Dylan adds: ‘I think of a hero as someone who understands the degree of responsivity that comes with their freedom.”

Iron Man aka Mr. Stark
Eric C.

Iron Man is by far the smartest
and coolest Avenger.
No hero is as cool as
Iron Man other than
the Black Panther

Iron Man
may not be the
nicest at times
and a little
bit hard headed
but it’s because
he knows exactly
what he’s doing

He never gives
up Iron Man is
himself He’s
one of the 3 smartest
people in
the world

He’s my idol
because that
shows that
no matter what
you went through
and no matter
what happened
he will come
around to you.

This guy looks like Adam Driver
He smells like lasers & egg nog
brags he started in the Force Awakens
if you’re dark, you get the red eye
Hero. You’re a Jedi
his hairs are heavy & luscious
he runs exactly like a Moschus
doesn’t get his way then he’ll throw fusses.

What Do You Call A hero?
Samantha M.

Every hero is good, they fight the Bad guy and
Put them in jail,
and live happily ever after
now, who believes that garbage?
I’ll say that the real superheroes are the ones
who laugh at death’s door
or in this case, falls in love with Death,
real heroes or anti-heroes are made back &
love chimichangas

They wear Black and red skin-tight suits
well this her specifically

He kills his victims and goes to the clubs,
yet why do people hate?

A hero is a hero no matter what they do.
I mean, he’s also an un X-Man
Brainy, I mean.

Spiderman
Ryan S.

He has hazel eyes and brown hair
Usually, he wears normal teen clothes
other times he wears his blue and red uniform
A spider in the middle of his uniform

He’s just a normal teen
he goes to school
he has regular teen friends
has suffered many losses
but not always

He was Peter Parker
Until a spider bit him
then he also became,
Spider-Man

Spider-Man can cling to things
Using his sticky spider webs
His acrobatic leaps help
And his new night vision

He is kind and very brave
He cares about many

Beyond Compare
Izellah D.

The day was calm and relaxing
Me being about 3 years old, had just discovered action
figures.
There was Batman, Spiderman, and the
Hulk.
But none were female.

I sat curiously, wondering what could have happened?
My curiosity obviously showed and my dad pulled
one more out. She had black hair, blue eyes, and
wore a red suit. I was amazed at how elegant she
looked. He began to tell me stories of how she could
lift the heaviest an on Earth. He told me that
her brain was more powerful than anything.
her wisdom was beyond any compare.

Spiderman is an amazing character
I learned that you should always
help people
If it’s cutting their grass
To shoveling their snow

With a red and blue suit,
he is noticeable
He saves the world with webs
which was an accidental power

He created his suit and
the controls of his webs
Somewhat like me
When I try to invent
something

I watched him with my
siblings when I was little
And ever since, I liked
to watch the rest of his appearances.
