Trees Will Grow Like Butterflies

This week we read “The Eagle” by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. Students rose to the challenge of writing poems in iambic tetrameter and following a rhyme scheme. The poems are about spring, which we are glad is finally (hopefully) here for more than one day.

The Spring
Rama A.

The Spring is warm when it is dry
My flower will survive or die
The trees will grow like butterflies

I will fly like a bumblebee
The grass is soft like a bunny
In the tree there is sweet honey

Earth Turns
Caleb J.

In springtime we all say goodbye
To go explore the land we fly
Our sadness is near and we cry

Our earth turns, we see the landscapes
We see the round shape of sweet grapes
We all eat our mom’s good gold crepes

Spring Showers
Amir B.

April showers bring May flowers
Making lemons that are sour
Flowers bloom they will now cower

Spring showers make grapes that are ripe
The thought is a wonderful sight
Lots of flowers of every type

Spring
Tanya N.

The birds are out into the light
The sun outside is shining bright
The kids are flying a blue kite

Driving along the sunny roads
We tell each other ‘bout railroads
In the car we watch episodes

In the Spring I Have Lots of Fun
Nasir M.

In the springtime, there’s joy and fun
The children love to jump and run
Loving light and heat from the sun

Playing basketball at the park
Staying all day until it’s dark
Shooting hoops to hit the orange mark

Rain
Lena L.

Rain leaves a stain on the glass pane
Rain washes worries down the drain
It feels like rain runs through my veins

In the spring time the flowers bloom
Flowers grow inside my sun-room
Sip lavender tea with a spoon

Spring
Aubre P.-D.

Springtime has sun and rain that blings
In spring the bird in trees that sings
Birds fly high you can’t see the wings

It’s humid, oh that makes me sweat
Mysteries that you don’t know yet
But we have fun on that you bet

In Springtime
Jalen M.

In springtime I will go fly high
And I will tell my friends goodbye
Then I will soar up in the sky

The snow of winter is now gone
The bright sun outside was upon
After a long spring day, I yawn

Spring
Kourtnae L.

The season of the year is spring
It makes you want to really sing
I hear chimes everywhere ringing

Spring is the season of the year
It sometimes makes the earth give tears
You would always love, it appears

Spring Poem
Nasir H.

All the snow is melting away
So the kids all come out to play
The flowers stop fading away

Animals see their first spring sight
And kites begin to take up flight
Oh! Spring, it’s such a delight!

Spring Stuff
Aramis W.

The smell of springtime cures my blight
This time of year has light all night
The time where greatness is in sight

In Springtime

In springtime there’s beautiful blooms
Rays of sunlight in my bedroom
A heavy rain and thunder booms!

In Springtime
Courtney P.

In springtime there’s April showers
The showers give us May flowers
And kids run around for hours

The sky turns gray and rain comes down
Flowers grow and bees come around
Springtime never gives me a frown

Spring
Ja’Maya L.

In springtime there are mad showers
That go on for days and hours
It’s worth it because of flowers

Colors are blue, yellow and pink
Sometimes you probably would think
About why the rain showers stink

In Springtime
Kyla B.

Happiness blooms in the springtime
We feel the warmth of the sunshine
As love creeps up the green grape vines

Breezes spreading inspiration
The kids running feeling gracious
Blue birds landing from migration

In Springtime
Kaya B.

In springtime it’s mixed, hot and cold
The flowers bloom high, white and gold
And the rain cannot be controlled

In Springtime
Hunter C.

In the springtime the flowers show
Making everyone love them so
As the wind journeys on to blow

The trees finally start to sprout
Their branches standing tall and proud
Then finally rest as fall comes out
