Group Poems @ Moos Elementary Winter 2020

During the 9th session of the Chicago Poetry, Residence students were given the challenge of writing a group poem. Students were encouraged to use all the elements of poetry we have been learning to select a theme and have each group member write a stanza for the poem. This was an exercise in theme, group work, and performance.

Seasons

Isaac, Giany R., Jaylanie L. Bianca R.

Seasons are summer, fall, winter, spring

summer is the hottest season

fall has colorful leaves

winter is cold

and spring is warm and cold.

My favorite season is Fall

because the leaves are colorful.

Winter is cold like a freezer.

Summer is my favorite season

summer is sunny and also very hot

windy

because I like to get wet.

Butterflies

Yarisha P., Lennox, Jiselle, Luther

Fly little butterfly

fly

fly

fly

Fly up high in the sky

just fly away

see ya another day.

Fly little butterfly

fly up high in the sky

If you don’t I might cry

we can spend time forever

just fly fly fly

Fly away butterfly

go

go

go

we love butterflies

me you and my friends

we are willing to catch one.

Take me away to a paradise.

I like your pretty wings

you are just like my drawings of you

I feel your feelings just like me!

I count you

I feed you,

but it’s time to let you go

I’m so sad I cried

Fly little butterfly

fast

fast

fast

in a flash

like a little butterfly
