Wintery Poems❄️

For our 13th distance learning poetry session, Swift 2nd graders thought about winter wonderlands.  After reading and discussing “winter poem” by Nikki Giovanni, students wrote their own winter poems. ❄️

The snow is coming from the sky
Sijan A.

The snow comes from the sky
I put my mouth up in the air
I taste the snow,
I look up and
The snow fell on
My eyes
But I was hot
I was wearing jackets
Warm pants
Warm shoes.

Winter joy
Samidha. D

Get out of home and play in the snow.
Before you go put on a coat
Don’t even think about leaving

Your hat at home. Now don’t leave
Your gloves on the doorstep.
Just get a big big scarf
Never ever forget your snow hat
The coat is not enough
So you need a big big sweater.
Don’t forget to bring hot cocoa or else

You will turn into an ice cube
Don’t forget the most important

Part –  your mask
And after you go out in
The snow these are the things you can do
Make a snowman, snow angel, snow ball,
Snow footprints, snow chair, snow battle, snow sculpture.

Snowman
Genesis O.

One day I made a white snowman with a carrot.
It was when we went ice skating
It was cold.
I got an idea.
I put some snow in my dad’s back.
I saw a snowflake.

Snow and Winter!
Marc A.

Getting on a snowflake, just like my family.
Then dropping on snow, to rest.
Getting on another snowflake, to school.
Then to a huge snowflake place with lots of learning
Then, do more with learning
Then getting on my snowflake dad to go home.

Snowman, snowman
Preet C.

Snowman snowman
Round and white
I wonder what
You do at night

Snowman snowman
Let’s have fun
Before you melt
In the warm spring sun

What I do in the winter
Lisa B.

In winter
tree leaves are falling down with the wind
through the bright light blue sky.
Trying to open the window but it’s frozen.
January
the coldest month of the year
so people play puzzles trying to figure out the picture.
Many people do not like winter because it is too cold.
I go out and play in the snow.

Making snow angels
Ashritha K.

Making snow angels is like swimming in balls.
Making snow angels is also like swimming with our backs.
Snow angels are like wearing a loose t-shirt and jeans.
I love snow angels as much as making snowmen.
