Terribly Terrific Tuesday: Alliteration

2nd graders at Swift continued distance learning last week by playing with alliteration – which is when the same letter sound is at the beginning of words that are close together.  After the reading “Monday Mornings” by Pauline Alva, students wrote their own poems.

Thursday Thoughts
Princeshikha K.

On Thursday Thoughts, I feel like a tremendous tray of cookies.
And some good terrific tempting treats, for kind teachers.
On Thursday Thoughts, I feel like a jumping rabbit, tireless.
And thinking of bunnies that never eat tater tots.

On funny Friday I feel funnier than
A fruity tribe.
On funny Friday I feel funnier than
The french king. More funnier than
Little french fries.

On funny Friday I feel funnier than
A fun movie.
On funny Friday I feel funnier than
A character in the first disney movie. More funnier than comedy movies.

On a funny Friday I feel funnier than a fluffy fruit home.

On Monday I miss eating mangoes.
When I eat mangos it’s yummy.
Most of the time I drink milkshakes.

On Monday me and my mom went shopping,
I met my friend in the market.
We talk math at midnight.
We buy milk, measuring cups, and muffins.

On Monday morning I had homework
Of measuring things,
Making sure that my measuring
Is perfect.

On Monday I just feel like being mischievous.
On Mondays I just want to wander around with a mad face on me.
On Monday I want to see the wonderful moon.

On Mondays I wander around the moon.

I saw a monkey trying to catch a mouse that has a big cheese so
I took the cheese and gave it to the monkey.

Lazy Saturday
Union M.

On Saturday I saw a snake that was scary. It tried to bite me.
I saw a squirrel on the ship with the snake.
On a hot day.
I saw they had six strawberries on the ship.
I see salmon and a Sambar.
I saw in the ship there were more animals.
I saw a sea lion on the ship and I saw a Scorpion.
And I saw a salmon and Sea Cucumber.
I saw fish and they brought more strawberries like sixteen.
