Simile Poems: “The gummy was as sweet as my mom”

This week was all about comparisons! We started off comparing what the sky and ocean had in common, and then read several student poems that featured similes. Students then did their own brainstorming of similes using “like” or “as” to compare two unlike things. Read below what they came up with!

The gummy was as sweet as my mom

The slime was stretchy like a rubber band

The toy was as small as a mouse

The watermelon was as green as grass

Joy is like a sugar rush

My dog was shaking like an ice cream machine

My brother was as mad as fire

Skittles, they taste sweet like a fruit

A teddy bear is soft like hair

Circle, they are like a donut

Pink is like a little piggy

Joy is like the movie “Inside Out”

I run fast like a cheetah
