Cento Poems

During this session, we read “Cento Between the Ending and the End” by Cameron Awkward Rich and watched a video of him reading it. We talked about how cento poems are made and ways you can draw inspiration from other works of literature to create your own work. Then, students thought of their favorite two songs, chose their favorite verse and used lines from both songs to create a new cento poem. Do you recognize some of these songs? 🙂

Porque es un gran orgullo ser tu hombre

Hazme un mundo de caramelo

Te presumo

Por que eres para mi un gran tesoro

Llena el aire con algodón

Y quiero estar junto a ti de cualquier modo.

 De repente las alegrías

I see skies of blue and clouds of white

When I see your face

The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow

The bright blessed days, the dark sacred nights

There’s not a thing that I would change

They’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know

‘Cause you’re amazing

I see trees of green, red roses too
