¡Brum Brum! ¡Ch ch ch ch!

Today I joined Ms. Musu and Sabin’s poetry camp for its second week! After writing persona poems with Ms. Musu, we talked about sound and learned the word “onomatopoeia.” This is a word that sounds like what it’s describing. We named some animal examples (“moo” “roar”, “ruff ruff”) and read the poem “I Hear” by 4th grader Wendy C.

Afterwards, campers wrote their own sound poems. Then we went outside and drew sound maps! A sound map includes illustrations of the sounds that are close to you. Take a look at the poems and a sound map below.
