The Hannah Montana Effect

Welcome to Week Two at Sabin Poetry Camp! This week, students get the chance to learn from Ms. Ola and myself and gave Ms. Ola a warm welcome with our name game. After a fun game of Zip! Zap! Zop! we read “Being A Bag” by fellow CPC student poet Asano L. We talked about who we would be if we had an alter ego, and wrote persona poems based on what we chose. Students then drew inside and outside portraits based on the personas they chose. We then got to spend some time talking about sounds with Ms. Ola before closing out with our poetry cafe. Check out some great student writing below:

I am a rainbow

I live in a beautiful sky with a cloud house

and like to have parties, talk to rain and

wind and also rainbows. and draw

I go to the cloud store and people are laughing at me

I say stop, just because I’m a rainbow doesn’t mean I’m gay.

Rainbows help you.

And suddenly! it starts storming really bad and

I tell the sky to stop

and it stops then everyone starts cheering at me

and we have a party
