Open Mic Celebration with 5th & 6th graders

This week not only marks our 20th session of poetry but the end of the school the year and residency as well. To celebrate their hard work and creativity Shoesmith 5th and 6th graders participated in classroom open mic performances. Students picked their favorite poems they wrote throughout the residency to perform out loud. Both 6th grade groups even wrote me a beautiful collaborative poem to express their thanks. I’m so proud and wish them luck on their journey to 7th grade. Check out the images and videos below that represent our fantastic year together.
