Honey, We Love

For our 8th sessions at Swift, we read “Honey, I Love” by Eloise Greenfield. We counted the poem’s stanzas, looked for all of the rhymes, and talked about our favorite sections. We brainstormed lists of people, places, and things that we love and do not love – before writing our own poems.

I Love Poem
by Shanty G.

I love the sea, I love my cats
I love animals, I love books and
I love the sunset and I
love the night.

What I do not love is people that
do not like the sea and
I do not like the people
that do not love or like animals.

Honey, We Love

We love our brothers, sisters, Moms,
and Dads
We love when we’re not mad
We love meeting a new lad
We love the taste of ramen
and visiting friends
We wish we could grow dreds

We do not love homework, or people
being mean
Some of us don’t like snow, even
when it’s clean
We don’t love bad dreams
