From Fear: Part 1

Every 5th grader loves scary movies. But what about scary poems? The poets from Logandale/Avondale read two poems “The Cremation of Sam McGee” by Robert Service and “The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe. These two poems were the longest poems the group have ever read during our time together. Stanza by stanza we analyzed each line and dissected some of the older English style utilized by both poets. We discussed the use of setting, mood, and description in each poem. Now the poets are ready to construct their own fear poems. Check out the next blog to see what 5th graders find fearful!
