We Think About Rainbow Colors

During our final two sessions, first graders selected one of their class poems to revisit and recreate. Ms. Cooley’s class agreed to focus on their color poem, which tied into other projects they’ve been working on in class. Students used markers and colored pencils to illustrate their lines from the poem, and we created a beautiful class book! During the last class, we also created a short and sweet collaborative poem about what poetry is… “poetry is to bring all our toys to school”

I Think About Rainbow Colors

Pink is my favorite color.
     It makes me happy!
Rosa brilla y pinta muy bonito
Rosado parece un corazón volando
Pink is the color of love.

Blue is hammerhead sharks in the water
Green is when my family gets together
Green, blue, red, yellow, orange make me happy
Green makes me happy like playing in the park.

Yellow, blue, and pinkish-red make me happy
like me and my mom, sitting in chairs and drinking juice
Azules son las ventanas de la casa de yo y mi mami y mi papi.

Pink-purple reminds me of a marrying dress.
It makes me grateful, calm, and excited for cakes and having fun!
A Barbie dress reminds me of a pink cupcake.

Pink and brown reminds me of my twin sister and me with toys in the bed!
Pink and purple reminds me of feeling calm and happy,
like a pink dress, pink flowers, love, and my family.

Azul es bajando en la nieve.
Anaranjado es un submarino bajo el agua

I like orange stars because it’s beautiful!
Green and black make me feel good
like my teacher gave me 2 A+

I think about rainbow colors.
     It makes me so happy!
Everything is all green and purple
and brown and blue
