Senses and Synesthesia (8th grade)

In Ms. Krasic’s 8th grade, we’re still enjoying our opening unit on poetry and playfulness! Today we talked about how poems can make strange connections and how using one of our senses can remind us of another sense or open up a memory in surprising ways. We listened to crackling leaves, felt pine cones, and smelled coffee grounds to notice what they made us think about.

“Writing poetry makes me feel like I can see myself, like I can see my reflection, but not in a mirror, in the world. I write and I know I can be reflected.”

“Writing poetry is like your best friend.”
