Poetry Matters!

Swift 2nd graders believe that poetry matters! Our last session felt bittersweet. The sweetness came from the warmth of community and expression we have explored through the conversations that reading and writing poetry inspires. The bitterness came from realizing that this would be our last time meeting in class for the 2021-2022 school year.

Students in Ms. Amato and Ms. Popovic’s classrooms had a beautiful time of sharing favorite poems that they have written throughout the year. Listening to their creativity, stories, jokes, and observations was fun and heartwarming. As a “cherry on top,” Ms. Popovic’s class presented me with a booklet of thank yous and a box of chocolate truffles! Thank you to all of Swift Elementary 2nd graders for going on a poetry adventure with me with this year.  💞xoxoxoxo
