Your Similes make me Smile

The most used literary device in literature are metaphors. Similes are metaphors that specifically use the words “like” or “as”. After reading “Dreams” and “A Dream Deferred” by Langston Hughes, the poets learned about similes and metaphors in both poems and how the poets uses them to relate concepts to the reader. They then wrote their similes based on someone, or something, they love in their life. Enjoy!

You give me butterflies in my stomach
Your shines like the sun
You’re as strong as lighting
And you act like a silly bird

by Andrea

Your hair is as soft as grass
Your eyes shine as bright as stars
Your heart is like a moon
Your as cute as a butterfly
You treat me like dirt with worms

by Julissa

Hey beautiful,
You make my heart races as fast as shooting stars,
You’re as beautiful as the sunrise
And as bright as the sun
Your voice is calm like the waves
In the ocean

by Ashley

You’re as cute as a kitten
But as crazy as an animal
You treat me like dirt
And you’re as cold as ice

by Anjelina

You are as cute as a puppy
You are as bright as the sun
Your eyes are like flowers in the garden
You are as hot as the sun

by Nathan

You are as delicate as leaves when you get hurt
You are as slippery as water when you sweat
You are cold like the air in winter
You are as tough as a tree when it’s fully grown
You are pointy like the grass in the summer
Your face gets as red as roses when you get cold
You aggressive as a tiger when they’re attacking
Your eyes are as cute as a kitten when they are sad

You are as beautiful as the views from the window
You are like a star that shines
You are like a little baby kitten
You are sweet like a flower
You are as pretty as nature

by Alex

You are like a butter bear
You bloom like a flower
Your eyes remind me of the stars
