You Are Like a Heart Falling: Odes @ Darwin

This week the 2nd graders at Darwin and I read Ode to Enchanted Light by Pablo Neruda . This poem leaves with the sense that the poet is in love with the world, and he’s watching it shimmer. He condenses his love of the world down to a love poem to light. I asked the students to write an ode to something in nature that is as striking to them as light is to Neruda. This was also our first attempt to think critically about stanzas and how to use them best. Enjoy!
