The City

The poets were asked to describe the City of Chicago in both a positive and negative light. Using the poem “Chicago” as a reference, the poets read how Carl Sandburg wrote about Chicago in both a positive and negative way. Enjoy!

Smoke in the air
People smoking cigarettes
The bad smells hurts us
Vapes being used for days

But you can feel the hot summer
The sun burning your skin

by Juliana

Cats on the road suffering from pain
They have no home to stay
But when they do they are thrown out
Just to be killed by the people in cars

When they reach Heaven’s Door
They will be greeted by people who have a heart
And will be taking care of
But as good as Heaven sounds
They will be in pain
But at least they have a new home by the people who love them
