I Relax With The Wind: Odes to Place @ Darwin Elementary

This week we read Ode to Enchanted Light by Pablo Neruda, both in its original Spanish, and translated into English. Students wrote about a beautiful place that makes them feel fulfilled when they picture it.

2nd Grade

Ode to Backyard by Karina B.

My backyard makes me happy
the girls the colors
and the light in the
sky and the rain falling
on the girls.

My backyard has
green grass that
sparkles with the
sun. The soft
breeze blows in
my face, and
I could lay in the
sparkling
green grass, and I relax with
the wind.

The trees swing in the wind the
crickets chirping day and night
the sun is shining on the leaves
The sound of the leaves swing in
the breeze the branches wave
in the wind
I go camping in the summer I fall
asleep on the trunk of the
tree.

It has a lot of roller coasters
and a lot of prizes
I like that place because
it has basketball games
and I like winning prizes
and they have bumper cars
they have fun roller coasters
too and I love roller coasters
they have a lot of Looney Tunes
stuffed animals they also
have a water park they
have a lot of slides too
