Poetry as Art with Words

Together we read and analyzed the concrete poem “Cherry” by Yi Li. We discussed the visual art aspect of the poem and how it lends to the overall meaning of the poem. What begins as a simple poem about cherries, makes a sharp turn into the speaker’s memories of cherries. Students then thought about a food they REALLY dislike and then turned their first memory of it into a quick concrete poem!
