Poems of direct address

This week, we read and talked about poems that talk to a specific audience. We talked about the ways that our poems could care for someone we love and wrote poems that talked right to them. We talked about what type of voice we would use for the one we love and the ways that poems can nurture.

Molly, don’t eat too much.

When you come over I will,
watch tv with you we can watch any
show you want,
I will give you my most fluffy blanket
I have.
When you sleep I will turn on the ac
to keep you cool.
When you are hungry I will cook you your
favorite food.
When you are bored, we can do fun activities.
