To continue prepping for our collaboration with and field trip to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the students and made one more poem from the music of Carnival of the Animals , specifically, the movement called “Personages With Long Ears” (and various other translations). You may want to listen to the movement while you read on, enjoy!

Burro Donkey by Diamond W.

The donkey is scared,
when he saw the troll
it said, “I’m going to eat you,”
so the Donkey runs as fast
as he can through the forest
The music gets slow while
The troll is in his house,
So the Donkeys runs out
before he eats him

Boxing Donkey by Dominic H.

It was a boxing donkey
he got hit with a car
and he broke his arm
he got his arm fixed
but he needed money
so he went to an
underground boxing tournament
If he wins, he gets 30,000
Donkey Money and he won
he was so happy he gave
all the donkeys money and
then they were all happy too

The donkey is on the
farm and there are
loud noises so the donkey
RUNS AWAY

Sad & Happy Donkey by Liany U.

The owner was being mean
to the donkey and it ran away
and it was sad
The old man tried to find him
but he was all alone in the woods
Three hours later, he found a new
family, and he was really happy

The Runaway by Emmanuel

The donkey is working,
a coyote scares him
the donkey starts running,
the coyote follows,
the donkey runs and runs,
the donkey gets tired
but finally he outruns
the coyote

by a person
the person gets lost
in the woods
and the donkey is happy
