To continue prepping for our collaboration with and field trip to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the students and made one more poem from the music of Carnival of the Animals , specifically, the movement called “Personages With Long Ears” (and various other translations). You may want to listen to the movement while you read on, enjoy!

3rd Grade

The Circus Dance by Anahi L.

The donkey is dancing
with a ball
It is a big one and silly
He is a big dancer
He is scared of a monster,
an elephant dressed up.
The donkey dresses as
a puppy, the elephant
is surprised.

The Running Kicking Donkey by Moses C.

The donkey is eating hay
a foe walks up and the donkey
hears him and starts to run.
He stops and laughs,
runs and says hee haw,
He is running fast as a road runner
Hopping away, he’s lost him

The Jump Kick Donkey by Miryam G.

Donkey jump, jump, and jump
Then Donkey kicks
Donkey starts jumping again
Again, and again, until
Donkey gets home
From working in town
Carrying all the stuff
At home Donkey went to bed
and fell asleep with his wife
