Ode to Swift Poets

Let us celebrate hands
we use for cupping
when we want
to tell a secret

Wonderful hands
that high five
making a loud
slap!
when you do a good job

I nominate my mom to celebrate

She is as pretty as a hibiscus flower

Her hair is as black as a crow

My mom is as smart as a calculator

My mom is a busy bee and she takes good
care of me.

Whispering wings of hope that lift me
higher

I love my mom.

let me celebrate my sister
who is nice and smart.

smart as the countries are.

kind and nice like the gods.

Happy as the sun is.

Playful like the oceans are.

Helpful as the sky is.

I would love to talk about
everything my family is to me.

The food and music that we
listen to.
Every time I hang out
I feel free with my family.

When the angels watch us from above
the angels are in my heart.

Let me celebrate good flowers
that are fresh and making butterflies
go on the flowers

Let me celebrate spring time when
we open the window and let butterflies
come and take the nectar

Let me celebrate their colorful
petals and their good smells like
lavender

Let me celebrate what flowers
need.  They need sunlight, water.

I want to celebrate God’s protection, I want
to celebrate God’s kindness, I want
to celebrate how much God loves us, I want
to celebrate how God made food, I want
to celebrate how God made culture, I want
to celebrate how God made life.

I want to thank God for making the world.  I want
to thank God for making people and my family.  I want
to thank God for helping us in bad times.  I want
to thank God for caring about us.  I want
to thank God for all the things He did
in life to help us survive.

Let me celebrate my 10 family members
2 brothers give me love, help, and make
me feel cheerful.

I have 2 brothers
they are kind and playful and helpful

I have 1 sister, she is very kind to
me.
She plays with me every day
in Nepal.

She has eyes pretty
as obsidian

Sharp as an eagle
finding food

like a chef cooking
Nepal food for us,

She’s like a platypus
caring about her child

cool as a tree making
shade

Her beautiful smile
makes me feel joyful

My sister, who takes
me places, like the
science museum where
we saw history about
dinosaurs

She spoils me
She buys me what I want

Every 10 weeks she comes
from college

I think she wants to make
me happy before she leaves

I go to Broadway Armory

Let me celebrate my Broadway
Armory.

It has a lot of games like
coaches vs. campers and dodgeball

And field trips like to the
Shedd Aquarium

We usually sing on the bus
and talk with friends

Sometimes we bother our coaches
Like Dameon, Laurence, Isaiah, Mark, Penny
and more

I lover their pink lemonade and
sandwiches.

It gives me happiness

I love to play with my friends

I want to celebrate bunnies
because they work so
hard to get a lot of
food for winter.

and they are
a pleasure to have
during Easter.

This is a story about
a mountain lion

the mountain lion reminds me
of holding my parents’ hands and it made me
soo happy and smile soo much
also the way they yawn is really funny

how me and my parents looking at the sunset
when I was tiny
and I love the sunset so much

I want to celebrate my dad
who is not mean
My dad helps me with my homework
He works hard to make sure I’m happy
like playing with me when I’m bored, or
giving me his phone so I can play games

I am a fan of
Panthers
It’s just a
black leopard

they eat raw meat

panthers are black
my favorite color

like jackrabbits
panthers look silky
and like in a Mexican jungle.
