The Ocean is Like the Wind: 2nd Grade Similes at Darwin

For our second poetry session together, the second graders and I worked on similes. We spent a while discussing what makes a simile exciting: that the two things don’t seem the same, and we find a commonality they share. The students were challenged to write their very own, all-simile poems, and they came up with some very cool ideas.
