My Modern Days

We may be heading into summer but that doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate work from this year’s beautiful poetry residencies. Below is a poem from Hale’s own Abe the Ape!

My Modern Days Abraham P.

I love watching football, but when I

play, I’m trash. Besides that, I play

with my toys. I play with Lincoln logs

magic tracks and and xshot guns. When I

play with Lincoln, I go to builder

mode while I feel the woody logs

on my hand. On the other hand, magic

tracks — it’s really nothing, just me

watching the car going in circles with

it’s high light brightening the tracks in the

dark. And finally xshot guns. It is

so fun, I get to aim at anything I want

except breakable things and my sister.

Gee whiz, I wish the day had more than just

24 hours and the week more than 7

days and also that my parents let me have a

game console. Oh well, that’s the way

it is!
