Mrs. Nazimek 6th Grade (second period)

Group Poem Eliana C., Nicholas H., Aerson O.

recited together

Quiet as a mouse, but not at my house,
my team work is hard, hard as stone
when I see the ball my point postpones,
I may not seem athletic,
I may not,
but it’s like a roller coaster may seem scary
but actually may be fun.
I escape to freedom up the court
but back to prison when I see a point,
acting good
can’t wear hoods.

The ball goes up and down like an airplane
working hard like an NBA player
finally relaxing
with the time passing,
throwing a small ball into a glove
or a weird shaped ball into a glove.

Group Poem Delilah, Franciaso, Jaslyn, Diego

recited by one person

At school I do my best to complete my work,
at school my voice is low and quiet when I speak,
at home I’m crazy like a lion,
energized like a fully charged phone,
I am fast like a cheetah,
I am smart like Albert,
I laugh a lot at school,
but stay quiet at home.

At school I bravely smile or laugh out loud,
at school I don’t have much of an appetite,
I eat good food at home, but nasty food at school,
I talk a lot because I’m a chatterbox,
at home I’m calm like a bird.

Group Poem Leah, Ariah, Joaquin, Ashton

Leah
2 different people,
only one body

Focused and calm,
distracted and nervous.

Ashton
2 different people,
only one body

Calm and quiet,
energetic and loud.

Ariah
2 different people,
only one body

with friends and bored,
with family and entertained.

Joaquin
2 different people,
only one body

good at it, good attitude,
great at it, bad attitude.

Group Poem Malachi, Ruby, Julian, Kamiyah

Malachi
At school, I’m focused
at home I’m not,
at home I play lots of video games
with voices in my ear,
at school I read books and write poetry,
when I’m at home I hangout with my mom.
And at school I play basketball,
at home I get to move around, at home
I have to sit in my seat.

Ruby
Outside of school I’m awkward and forget how to talk to people,
Sometimes I can look like a deer staring at headlights in a big group of people.
She is calm, quiet, and likes to mind her business.

Julian
Barley free mostly trapped,
I’m out with my friends hearing them rap, already done it’s a wrap.

Kamiyah
At home I’m not so smart, at school I act smart,
but not all the time, I get very crazy when someone is irritating,
I can get very upset but I try my best.
