Each Day is Different!

This week, there was no uniformity to what we did in Swift 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms.  I had plans to teach haiku, the Japanese poetic form of 3 lines with a syllabic pattern of
line 1:  5 syllables
line 2:  7 syllables
line 3:  5 syllables

….and we did manage – despite flagging energy levels and a fire drill! The day also included practicing reading aloud and discussing poems from a few anthologies; and an impromptu tour of student artwork exhibited in the hallway!
