The Door Said Who Are You –– Object Poems @ Avondale Logandale

The eraser says you made a mistake.
The headband says I’m a pretty thing that goes on your head.
The nail polish says your fingers are pretty.
The brush says put your head down.
The lipstick says your lips are rose.
The cat says do you love me.
The star says I’m shining bright.

Cat said “stay away from me”
Cat said “I will scratch you”
Cat said “I hate you”
Cat said “I’ll eat you up”
Cat said “I’m going to leave you”
Cat said “let’s be friends”
Cat said “stop throwing me”

The gym said chew me well.
The door said who are you.
The paper said write on me.
The notebook said write a list.
The grape juice said drink me.
The book told me to read him.

A pencil talking and saying
why did you separated us
from our home tree.

Clock clock what time is it
Look at me and you will see
It’s too late I can’t see
and you were calling me
so now you see I tell
you so I can’t see.
Clock clock I don’t have
time for me so I can’t have
time for you. Clock clock
what time is it time to
see me how I see you if
I have time for you because
I don’t have time for me.

I went to the library
and a book said
“read me, I am about happy things”
then I went to a math book it said
“get out, I’m about mad things”

A paper says what are those
A pencil says I’m tired
A book says read me

The clouds look like a big
marshmallow but when it rains
it looks like the clouds are
crying about something.

Paper said “why are you using me”
The pencil said “because I need to take notes”
