Ms. Reed 3rd Grade
Chocolate is sweet as books
A red panda is like a crimson of clouds
My sadness is like rain
Running is like an electricity moving around
ramen is as hot as fire
yarn is as soft as a blanket
my sister is circular as the sun
the night is as black as a dim shadow
sadness is like a stormy night
running feels like freedom
My love for soccer is as big as the sun
Fun Fridays are sweet as lime candy
my excitement is like something in a nice pink game
Blueberry candy is as sweet as Fun Friday
Math is hard as a rock
My imagination is as big as a cruise ship
My drawings are pretty and cute like the color pink
My feelings are as big as the ocean
I can sing as lovely as a bird
Mr. Ciccone 3rd Grade
A fire engine is red like growing
tomatoes
A bird’s legs are as skinny as
a stick falling from a tree that is
small
My eyes were as wide as me
stretching heavenly to get
attention from other people
A fire engine is red as my
sister’s face when she is mad
and when I look as her face it looks
like a cherry
a rubberband is stretchy like gum, or
leather
or happiness you hold inside
and release outside!

I want poetry to be as playful as games
I need poetry to be as delicious as a classroom full of cakes
I wish poetry was as magical as going to Sky Zone
Ms. Brist 2nd Grade
The tuna fish sandwich is squishy
like slime, or a sponge in a sink.
Our blood cells are like tiny ants
or atoms of dust
or cracker crumbs.
Joy is like a bird’s song waking you up
in the morning
the color of light blue.
We want poetry to be like being granted unlimited wishes
in an underground tunnel in Ohio
and give us a tab of squishes to smash like mashed potatoes
Ms. Liz 2nd Grade
Strawberries
red as a stop sign
red as a traffic light
all the cars waiting
Strawberries
are red like anger
but sweet
like the feeling you get
when you go to Chuck E Cheese
Sometimes
making a friend is hard
like a rock
We sing
like birds.
