Our 2nd and 3rd grade poets at Moos Elementary have been working hard on their poetry skills, and it shows! We’ve discussed the poetic line since day one, and stanzas since a few sessions in, and you can really see the thought they’ve put into those below. This week we read Blake’s, Tyger, and considered his metaphor–that a tiger is so powerful, it seems as if it was made in a metal forge. Then I asked, what animal do you find amazing, and what sort of questions or metaphors would you create for it? We also started considering metaphor and personification, two new vocabulary words.
