I want a poem that can…

In Ms. Carteno’s class, we read Blk Girl Art by Jamila Woods and discussed what we want poems to be able to do in the world. We imagined our poems as superheroes, able to do anything we could imagine! This was a little bit of a tricky week, as we were virtual, but we tried our best and had some great conversations!

Poems Jayden

Poems are garbage unless
they are as a happy as a monkey
with bananas. Poems are garbage
unless they are as healthy
as a body builder.

of ice cracking. That tastes like
ice cream. That could stop the war
in the Ukraine. That smells like
tacos. That could stop COVID.
That looks like a blooming flower.
