Picture a Poem!

One of the many reasons poetry is awesome is because of its imagery. We paint images with the words we use. What if we went backwards and had a picture paint our words? That’s what we did at Darwin this week! Here are this week’s featured poets

Ms. Garcia, Spanish, 2nd Grade

In this classroom, we first drew pictures together in a cirlce. THEN, we traded pictures with a friend and the friend wrote a poem about our pictures. We learned how we can work together to make a poem!

  Marely drew this.

Here’s Citlalli‘s poem:

el verano se siente amarillo
el elado se siente azul
la jirafa esta i verde
las mariposas son ermosas
el colibrí esta pegajoso
el osito esta esponjoso
el osos estan flaco

Summer feels yellow
the ice cream feels blue
the giraffe is green
the butterflies are beautiful
the hummingbird is sticky
the bear is fluffy
the bears are skinny

Larissa drew this photo.

Here’s Sandro‘s poem:

the sea makes me feel
with the Flow and it makes
me feel happy because sea
is blue and blue is my favorite
color and blue is my color
because its my favorite team
of soccer is cruz Azul

Here’s Zuri‘s poem:

this drawing makes me understand
the world
I feel happy when I look at
this
It makes me feel like
I am in the wilderness
i do not understand why people
call things how they call
things

I see grey and box and leaf
