Our revisions!

In Ms. Budzileni’s 8th grade, we spent some time revising poems that we had already written and were excited about. We had a poetry reading and the student’s did an amazing job!

My Name

-Saleh

My name is great and powerful in Arabic,

weak and small in English.

People butcher my name when they call me Salay,

they chop my name in half,

and replace the leh with lay,

but who is salay?

My name is SALEH!

A name of a great and powerful prophet

of the past.

At the Table

-Rigoberto

I see my family surrounding me around the table,

I hear my parents call my name,

my dad starts playing Spanish birthday

music on his guitar,

I smell the candles melting,

I cut the smooth chocolate cake with a knife,

the blade cutting through like butter,

I taste the sweet chocolate cake

exploding in my mouth.

The Living Room
-Luis M

After a long stressful day we crawl

to the living room. A place to

recharge after a hard day. The place

where time doesn’t exist and our

laughs are endless. The place where we

also sometimes argue over what we’re

gonna watch in the tv. But in the end

the tv is king and everyone

is watching every move. No matter

if it’s explosive thrillers or suspensful

crimes.
