One of these things is not like the other…

4th Grade

For today’s session, we talked about how we can compare things that are very different but still similar to each other. For example what do a mouse and an elephant have in common, or how are the sun and a lightbulb similar to each other. Then students brainstormed their ideas and wrote their own comparison poems. Enjoy the poems!

Water is like my

tears when I cry

My eyes are as dark

as midnight

My heart beats like

a ball when you bounce it

When I run I’m like

a car in a race

I’m as sweet as

cotton candy

When I sleep I’m as quiet

as a mouse

A Car Is Like a Person

Ma’Kiyla M

A car is like a moving person

A pizza is like a big sprinkle cookie

A scooter is like a bike you can ride

A shark is like a fish with big teeth

A marshmallow is like a pillow with a lot of sugar

A car beats like my heart

Smash potatoes look like clouds

A sun looks like a bright light

My pants look like a dark sky

My face is shiny like a ring.
