“What are some different kinds of love”. is the question we started off with this week, before reading Gwylym Cano’s poem “Love”. Sushi, pets, family, friends…we had a lively discussion about all the different ways we can experience love, and how Cano used personification and metaphor in the piece to bring the concept of love to life. Students did a quick brainstorm and then got to work on their own love poems. I had such a great time reading these, and I hope you do too!

Love has
it’s ups and downs
just like going
down a bumpy road
It can make you
feel jealous over anything
that they do with anybody
else, that’s not you, or it
could sound like Daniel
Ceasar’s song, “Best Part”
or like Ivan Cornejo’s song
“Hasta La Muerte” It
could feel like the
world is going to end
is someone doesn’t like
you back.
Love
Can
Be
Many
Different
Things
El Amor
Alisson
El amore puede ser
amargo y dulce puede ser como
el viento y como las flores
al principio dulce y luego amargo
puedes sentir felicidad, engaño y aceptación
muchas veces el amor puede ser interesado
toxico, engañoso, forzado y pocas
veces verdadero. El
amor te hace
caer muy
rapido tambien
Translation:
Love can be
bitter and sweet; it can be like
the wind and like flowers—
sweet at first, then bitter.
You can feel happiness, deceit, and acceptance.
Many times, love can be selfish,
toxic, deceitful, forced, and rarely
true.
Love makes you
fall very
fast; you also
change so that
in the end, it only deceives you.
Love is small and fragile; it can
break very quickly like a feather.
Your pain, time, and the wind
will carry it away so you don’t bear
the weight of betrayal or deception.
The pain will wither,
and the wind will take it away.
Your heart will heal, but
it won’t love like it did before.

Love is amazing
it feels amazing
in a way you can’t explain but
love sounds like birds humming on a beach
with the wind blowing at you.
Love Feels Like
Daniella
Love feels like a summer day at the beach
feeling the fresh cold water and making sand castles
and decorating them with some pretty seashells and
going home and finding rose petals on the floor
for a good movie night and popcorn and pizza
and a glass of fruit punch and chocolates and
a cute adorable stuffed animal waiting for you
to feel.
Love also feels like love birds sitting on
a tree enjoying the sun or the air and looking
at how beautiful the sunset looks when
two couples are together and how beautiful
the flowers look when the love is surrounding
them with the cute hugs and candles
Love also feels like two pieces of gum stuck
to each other, like two cute couples
that are sweet to each other and
have so much in common that the
gum has alot of flavor and makes
the gum more good to chew on, and that
you never want to spit out.
Love Can Feel Like
Gonzalo
Love can feel like
a thunder storm or can feel
like a beautiful sunny day the
very next day
there is different types
of love, like sibling
love, like you fight
then you make up after
it.
Another thing love can
do is make your self
improve. Like putting on
cologne so you can
impress on the first
date.
