Today was our last day of our poetry at Haugan! I’ll be honest, there were a few tears here and there! I’m so thankful to have been able to spend the year with these remarkable students and to learn from their words and ideas. It has been a complicated year and they have faced it with such grace and energy and insight and give me so much hope for the future! Everyone made a final revision of a poem and we collected them into poetry yearbooks, where instead of a picture to remember one another, we all have a poem. The kids also received journals to use over the summer and we spent the time brainstorming creative summer projects and signing one another’s yearbooks.
