Erasure Poetry

Lesson Note: This week, we finished up our residency with erasure poetry, also known as blackout poetry. This sort of poetry is created when you take a piece of text already written and then “black out” certain words to make a whole new piece of art. Everybody had a lot of fun creating new poems! Below are some of the pictures from our last poetry session together.

“Writing poetry makes me feel like I can see myself, like I can see my reflection, but not in a mirror, in the world. I write and I know I can be reflected.”
-Oscar S.

“Writing poetry makes me feel free.”
-Buenda D.

“Writing poetry is like your best friend.”
