Do you know what I love?

After reading and discussing Eloise Greenfield’s poem, “Honey, I Love,” we talked about people and things that we love, including tastes, sights, sounds, smells, textures and feelings.  Then Swift 2nd graders wrote their own I Love Poems.

Do you know what I love? I love the birds
flying like a plane. I like to hear poems. I like
to hear magic like flying to space to see the
planets. I want to go to the moon. I really
want to go to the moon. I want to be a super
hero to fly to the moon. I like to go places
with my friends. I love music.

Do you know what I love? I love the
sound of purring cats. It makes me feel so
warm. They feel like little fuzz balls you can
hold in your arm. They make me feel so happy
I’m about to bust with joy. They look really
funny when they play with my toys.

Do you know what I love?
I love the flowers that touch
on the sky, the flowers
smell sweet and we sleep
on it. They feel soft
and lovely from the
sky, the flower is yellow
and pink with orange
spots.

Do you know what I love?
I love my bichon, Jake. He’s like a
oreo cookie, his fur is soft like a soft warm
pillow, when I look at his eyes his eyes
look like a shiny star in the sky waving at
me, when I get back from school Jake is
happy

Do you know what I love?
I love hershey’s cookies and cream
I like the creamy taste. It also
looks like a golden bar also
a plushy. His eyes glow like the
stars. Slushies feel like snow

people are laughing

Do you know what I love?
My mom
My mom takes care of me
When my mom gets a big problem
she talks to God
She is cool, love, and sweet even
when she is mad
even at school
she tells stories about her self
and me and my family listen, too
so that’s why I love my mom

Do you know what I love?
I love to read
I love it when the words just
go through my head. I love
how the words are put together
to make a story. I love to
learn from books. I love
the silly books they make me
laugh and giggle. I just love reading.
