Choose Your Own Adventure

Right before the young poets at Hale Elementary went off to Thanksgiving Break, they were able to choose-their-own-adventure (i.e. write a poem about either the season, Thanksgiving, or whatever else they wanted!) Here are a few selections:

Things Are Boring

by Lily

5th grade

I’d rather be watching TV

School is as boring as a book

Food is yummy like a cake

Winter is as cold as ice

When I have my sweater all day long

I am as warm like hot cocoa

I want to sleep as long as a bear sleeps through winter

Watermelons are as nasty as bugs

and wood is as hard as a tree

but my bed is as comfy as a couch

Winter Frost

by Ava N.

4th grade

Winter, winter

how much I adore you

once a snowflake melted on my tongue

I loved you ever since

when it snows

it looks like diamonds

in the sky

and the snow is whiter than paper.

Happy Thanksgiving

by Alexcia

4th grade

You are happy and proud

you are not bad

you are just having fun with your mom

You have pink ham

it smells like heaven

knocking on your door

as you walk through

the heaven gate

ready to see who baked it all

You are going to go have fun

but remember when the clock strikes 1

it’s time to go home

Happy Thanksgiving to all

and to all a good night

Thanksgiving

by Melanie

4th grade

Yay it’s Thanksgiving

let’s get ready

I am going to tell you all about my day,

My favorite part about it is

spending time with my family.

Lots of family are going to come.

And Mac and Cheese will be my favorite smell.

I am grateful for all my

family’s time and cooking
