Cento Poems

Our time together at Avondale/Logandale School with both of Ms. Pannell’s 5th grade classes has come to end. For our final lesson we did Cento Poems which are poems made from other poems. The poets selected one line from each of their previous poems to create a new poem. At the same time, poets are reviewing and editing their work. They can see the progress of their writing through the last 20 weeks. Enjoy!

Animals help us with a lot of things

You are cute like a baby kitten

Never stop eating nachos

I smell the rubber ball

A sprinkle of sassy

I am a butterfly

When I play volleyball my coach tells me I am a pro

Kat and Gold are my besties

Dancing is fun

We are ballers we make dollars

Selcy R.

We be sassy

Grateful for the moments

I have many sunburns

I’m here to make people happy

We love to dance

I can feel the fear in her heart

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

Love equals forgiveness too

Connecting our hearts

Damien S.

We got the drip but never skip

Cheetahs are like lighting in the sky

I’m a Bat, not a villain

But still a person, not an animal

I got angel wings

I dug in the ground and found a worm

The sun in my eyes, the birds in the sky

I am like a ghost

My finger was sticky like glue

Cathlyn O.

She had a wide grin that was very disturbing

Listening to music makes me feel like I’m another world

I am not Ariana Grande

A dash of rudeness

It is also fun

I catch your tears when no one is there for you

I hear a bunch of talking

I’m so sharp

You are a flower that grows

Butterflies come in the summer

Maritza A.

When I’m sad you cheer me up

Doing good in school could take you anywhere

I hear people saying nice things

Sometimes you need my help

10 gallons of “always being there for you”

Swimming makes me feel like a turtle

They are telling scary stories

There are sad and happy times

I’m so sharp just like a dart

Magaly E.

Throwing trash on the ground affects the air

Every time that I’m sad you come and make me happy

You are the prettiest flower

Touch the water around you

I see different colors around me

I am not a turtle or a cheetah

Exercising is good for me

What they saw left them all shocked

Some partners are traitors

Friendship is loving
