4th graders Go To Work in the “Crazy Ideas Factory”

For our first poetry session of 2021, Shoesmith 4th graders taught me about oobleck, and then went to work in what I like to call the “Crazy Ideas Factory.” That means they played with out-of-the-box thinking to create “swan of bees” poems. Enjoy!

My House of Unexpected Things
Rocky L.

My house is full of weird things
Like a tree of diamond rings
then a mouse that knows how to sing
And a monkey blowing a kazoo
And a ghost saying BOO!
With a cat that is blue!
Or a room of bubble wrap
And some birds going tap tap tap
And on top of it is a cap
I don’t really know why it has that
I don’t find it necessary
The other ones fit in my gallery
It just makes me want to tear it
Thats cap cruelty!
really?
