The Chicago Poetry Center hosts the Chicagoland regional competition for Poetry Out Loud. Learn how your high school can participate in this national poetry recitation contest.

Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages high school students to learn about poetry through analysis, memorization, performance, and competition.
Through Poetry Out Loud, high school students across the country participate in a dynamic poetry recitation contest designed to improve their public speaking skills, help build confidence, and teach them about literary history and contemporary life. The program starts at the local level with a school or participating organization. Winners advance to a regional and/or state competition, then to the national finals.
CPC is proud to serve as the Chicagoland regional host organization for Poetry Out Loud in partnership with the Illinois Arts Council. The Poetry Foundation generously provides space for Chicago POL events.
