Winter poems (K)

Today, in Ms. Icho’s kindergarten, we went on a magic adventure through winter! We looked at different winter pictures and talked about what we would see, smell, taste, touch, and hear at the playground, Devon Street, and our houses in winter. We read the poem “The Winter Day” written by the 2nd graders at Swift Elementary and then each student wrote a line about winter using one of their senses. Their descriptions were so specific, we really felt like we were in the middle of a winter day!

Winter

I see the sun and a rainbow.

I taste hot chocolate.

I smell snow and hear kids say “ahhhhh.”

I taste snow on my tongue with my brother.

I smell marshmallows with original water.

I see snow.

I see lights at night and snowflakes people are eating.

I see the sun shining and lights.

I see snowflakes in the park.

I taste chocolate.

I hear noisy kids.

I see the slide and I taste coffee.

I see snow at the park and I see that the swing has snow.

I see slides in the the park.

I see the moon shining on snowflakes.

I taste snowflakes that taste like snow.
