What Is Freedom?

This past week at Sayre Language Academy we recalled learning Gwendolyn Brook’s poem “We Real Cool” and answered why it is so easy to remember–the music. We focused on rhyming and writing poems about what freedom looks like, sounds like, and feels like.

Ms. Hernandez 7th Grade

I Feel Free Every Day Ashton A.

Freedom looks like not being a slave

Freedom feels like you have wings

When I am free I am doing what I want

Freedom Khloe C.

Freedom is hard to explain because
There are so many versions
but when I think of freedom
I think about praying
While I’m laying I’m listening to
my music playing

Untitled Lupita C.

I feel free when I dream. Freedom looks like a nice vacation. Freedom feels like a good feeling. When I am free I am happy.

Freedom Emily T.

I feel free when I eat food. Freedom feels like heaven. When I am free I am sleeping.
