“What Does A Brain Sound Like When It’s Thinking?”

Students at Swift Elementary School greeted me with curiosity when I returned on November 22nd. They wanted to know how we would be playing with words this time around. When I asked them what kinds of SOUNDS can be heard at home, outside, and at school, some creative minds had to squeeze their eyes shut or look off in the distance to help themselves remember! It was funny when we read a poem that said beans cooking in a pot made the sound ka-pluk ka-pluk ka-pluk! This inspired a student in Room 204 to say that a trombone sounds like brub-brub! And when I was in Room 208 and said I wondered what it sounds like when students’ brains are thinking, they said: dit-dit, psh-psh! Please enjoy reading some of the “Sound Poems” that students wrote.
