Tools of the Trade

This week was a departure from our usual read a poem, discuss a poem, write a poem format. When I’m able to, like to share some of the resources I use as a writer with students in my own writing practice as a “professional writer” (which is always so strange to say.) I brought in some of my favorite tools of the trade, from online dictionaries, and thesaurus, a visual thesaurus, website chock full of writing prompts, rhyming dictionaries (in English AND Spanish) and even online magnetic poetry. Students had the chance to go over some of their pieces and make three edits if they wanted to. But Alex really got into the online magnetic poetry game online, and created this beautiful piece that I shared below. Enjoy!
