Ticklish Tuesday

For our 11th sessions, Swift 2nd graders met on Tuesday, rather than Thursday, when a special program is planned for the time we usually meet. We read Pat Mora’s poem, “Writing Secrets,” before exploring tongue-twisters and alliteration. Students were excited about the nearness of spring break, and some had a harder time focusing on writing than others. I guess you could say we had a “ticklish Tuesday!”

Sunday (a collaborative poem) Class

On Sunday spiders spin seven spider webs
And Aarav arrives to go skating seven times with his friends
Summer Sundays the sun sets beautifully

In September, Sirisha sings songs about spring
Suhash likes swimming in summer
Some Sundays shrink the sun
And the weekend is gone.

Tuesday Before Spring Break (a collaborative poem) Class

Ticklish Tuesdays Tengers likes to Tiktok
Ticklish Tuesdays tripping over squishy toy tires
Tick tock ticking clock twenty times

On Tuesdays time for tigers to take a big trip around the world,
and take a big hunt for something tasty
And Thursday is tic-tac-toe day.

Wednesday Class

When Wednesday comes we see
whales wiggling in the water
while watching the wicked witch
whhoossshhh!
Washing whales with windshield wipers
wisps of water wind wonderfully
on Wednesday.
