“The sweetness will last forever”

This week we “ate” poetry and talked about what memories we had that were connected to food. Students wrote poems sharing their favorite dishes and who they love to eat it with! Check out their delicious food poems here.

Mr. Goldner

Sweet, Sweet French Toast Anis Aguilar

We make french toast

The smell of cinnamon

The powder in the air

Flipping it in the eggs, milk, and cinnamon

Don’t get it in your hair!

Some of the stuff in the pan splashes everywhere

I pour syrup when I’m done

The flavors go in my mouth

The smell takes up my whole house

The sweetness will last forever

We will make french toast together.

Vanilla Amiyah D.

The taste of vanilla gives you a breath

that you breathe into. Vanilla isn’t just

a taste! It’s a smell, too

When you think of vanilla

You wonder, wow, omg, I love

The Smell or Taste of this thing

Let’s just say vanilla is such a treat.

Vanilla, there’s even different types

of vanilla like cherry vanilla, vanilla blossom,

vanilla red and more

Vanilla is just everything!

Smoothie King Danica K.

She makes a smoothie mixing milk, strawberries

and blueberries. With sweet smells and swirling

ingredients, everything we cared for, everything we lost

pouring the delicious liquid to the brim of the history

I just made while sitting on the couch watching the birds chirp.

Mrs. Childs

A Cook Cooking Day Jeremiah B.

My friend’s grandmother made

Mexican Sweet Corn and what was on it

was corn in a cup

and the corn had mayo, butter, spicy-pepper

and cheese.

The T-Cakes Danel J.

The t-cakes are so

good they make me

want to dance they are

the best thing I ever had

but they are too small

they are bite-sized for me

it looks like cornbread but

way better it’s super

good when they’re hot

it’s not as good if you save it

for later but it is still

sweet but not as sweet.

The Dead Fishy Julian T.

One day I’m in the kitchen

and I see a fish

I say oh yeah, some fish tonight?

I ask if I can cook it

with my mom she says yeah

so I get the fish

it feels like sharp marbles

and I put him on the grill

I look at it the fish stares

dead in my eye then

it’s ready I look for my brother

I can’t find him I waited in his room

then I remember the fish was

trying to talk to me and I remember

my brother working on a potion

to make people into animals

and I thought he was the fish.
